G3 Peak Tour to the "Schalke"- 30 kilometer, 1084 meters in height-category difficult
This special peak tour starting in is Goslar, is ranked among one of the hardest routes of the "Volksbank-Arena-Harz" according to the mountain bike routes. You should actually expect 1084 meters in height on about 30 km. Even a low mountain range has steer routes!
From the city center of Goslar, you cycle through the mountain valley to the World Cultural Heritage "Erzbergwerk Rammelsberg". From here, the tour through the words and up the mountains starts.
It goes steadily uphill, until you reach the highest point of the tour after about 11 kilometers- the "Schalke" with 762 meters above sea level. Take some food with you, because from up there you will have a wonderful view over the "Brocken" and the "Harzer" peaks, so it's a good possibility to have a picnic. Until 2003 there was also a scouting tower, a listening post of the Frenchman. Today there's a viewing tower with a panoramic view over the Harz National Park.
The tour goes on across the "Auerhahn" and the "Bocksberg" towards "Hahnenklee". That's where you can visit the Nordic stave church and have something to eat or drink in one of the cafés and restaurants. The way back leads through the "Granetal" past the "Margareten" cliffs and across the "Steinberg" to the world heritage city of Goslar. Thanks to the electrical support of the e-bikes, even people with less stamina able to cope with this difficult route.
